The Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency will offer a limited number of driver education classes during 2012. The training class consists of 30 hours of classroom time and 6 hours of behind the wheel drive time plus one hour for a final road test.
State certified driver instructors will teach, ages 15 through adulthood, the skills needed to become safe and responsible drivers. All students must have a current Tennessee Driver Permit in order to be eligible to attend the driver education class.
Upon successful completion of the driver education course, which includes written test and road test, students will be issued a certificate that may be used to obtain a Tennessee Driver License. The certificate will be in effect for 180 days and must be used before the expiration date. The cost for the training class is $300.00 per student.
UCHRA will provide all training materials which include Tennessee Driver handbook, lesson plans and a variety of training videos. UCHRA will also provide the driver education cars for all driving hours.
Please call 931-528-1127 to check for availability of classes and general information regarding the driver education training program. Completion of a Driver Education class may lower the cost of insurance rates.
